Marci McElroy
Art Teacher

Marci McElroy has been teaching at St. Mary-Basha since 2016. She was born and raised in Nebraska on a dairy farm and attended school at Lindsay Holy Family until her college experience at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. BCU is where she earned her bachelor’s degree and met her husband John. Omaha became home for Mrs. McElroy for many years as she taught art at the high school, junior high and elementary levels and raised their three daughters. In 2013, she and her family moved to Kingwood, Texas before their final move to Chandler in 2015. They are parishioners at St. Juan Diego.

Teaching art to St. Mary-Basha’s youth is a delight for Mrs. McElroy. She is passionate about offering art experiences and teaching kids about art history. Through the school year, Mrs. McElroy will incorporate cross curricular units because she understands the importance of helping kids make those connections between art and other subjects: science, math, reading and social studies/history.

In her free time, Mrs. McElroy also enjoys walking, biking, and crafting. She creates crocheted blankets and hand-embroidered and sewn items at her leisure. Traveling to see her grandchildren and family is frequently on her calendar, but technology has made it possible to feel connected across the miles.
