Joan Mullins

Born and raised in Anaheim, California Mrs.Mullins career in education has been driven by her love for teaching and commitment to providing quality Catholic education to every child.
Mrs. Mullins began her teaching journey 1989 in San Bernardino California in an alternative public high school teaching math to at-risk students. She took a couple of years off to attend law school in San Diego, before returning to teaching after she married her wonderful husband, John.
Mrs. Mullins attended The University of Southern California where she participated in the Trojan Marching Band and the Alpha Pi sorority, as well as Cal State San Bernardino earning two undergraduate degrees and a masters degree in Political Science, Sociology, and Policy Planning.
In 1999, Mrs. Mullins began teaching middle school math in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Wanting to become a more effective educator she earned a Master of Science in Education Leadership from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. This degree allowed her to develop curriculum and classroom procedures to meet the needs of all her students.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Mullins Over a 25 year career she taught all subjects in grades 4-8. She developed a love for social learning theory and believes in the ideal that literacy should be taught across the curriculum. Her experience has informed her belief that children learn best when they feel safe.
Beyond her professional work, Mrs. Mullins enjoys going to college football games (Go Trojans!) with her husband and son, exploring the country, and learning new cuisines.. She loves to read and watch movies with her son.
In her spare time, Mrs. Mullins is working on a degree in counseling in preparation to become a therapist for children and adolescents struggling with family trauma.
Mrs. Mullins has gratitude for the SMB family and hopes to contribute to the school's mission.
