STUDENTS ENTERING 1st GRADE
A kindergarten math student entering 1st grade should be able to:
- Add and subtract facts to 5
- Skip count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s
- Identify numbers to 100
A kindergarten language arts student entering 1st grade should be able to:
- Read words with blends, long vowels
- Read introduced sight words
- Read grade level text aloud with fluency
- Write first and last name
- Write a sentence with correct capitalization, punctuation, word spacing, and grade level spelling
In addition, students entering 1st grade should:
- Recite the Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Guardian Angel, and Grace Before Meals
- Be attentive and participate at Mass
- Follow and implement the first 5 Discipline With Purpose (DWP) skills
- Be able to learn and recite the St. Mary-Basha Catholic School Mission Statement
- Be able to learn and know the St. Mary-Basha Catholic School Student Learning Expectations
